Equal-time dots sit at equal horizontal spacing: vₓ = u cos θ never changes because there is no horizontal force.
The vertical dot spacing shrinks going up and grows coming down: ay = −g throughout.
At the top, vy = 0, so the speed is at its minimum and equals u cos θ.
From level ground, θ and 90° − θ give the same range; 45° gives the greatest range.
Hit the target
A target sits on the ground. Work out the range on paper, write your prediction, then set u and θ and launch. Launch height is fixed at 0 m and g at 9.8 m/s².
